About the Product Naming

Previously, the names VCK CCCP 2023/2024 and the VCK CCCP series caused some confusion among our customers. Here’s a straightforward explanation of their meaning and the reasoning behind our new naming convention:

• VCK: Refers to “VFD Clock” or “Vacuum Tube Clock.”
• CCCP: The Russian abbreviation for the “Union of Soviet Socialist Republics” (USSR), representing Soviet-style aesthetics and retro design elements.

To make our product names more intuitive, we listened to your feedback and simplified the naming structure. This change aims to ensure that the names are easier to recognize and understand while maintaining the uniqueness and retro essence of our designs.

From now on, our clocks will adopt the prefix RSC, short for “Retro Soviet Clock”, followed by a specific model identifier, such as RSC-0658-A or RSC-0658-L.

The number 0658 refers to the screen code of the DIY VFD display. As very few companies still manufacture VFD screens, most of the screens we use are independently developed by LGL Studio, blending innovation with craftsmanship.

If there are any classic VFD screens or designs you wish to see revived, feel free to contact us. Looking ahead, we plan to release colorful VFD screens and dual-tone VFD displays, bringing fresh possibilities to this retro technology.
