VFD-0658 Quick Start Guide
Introduction
Just received your VCK-0658-A vacuum fluorescent display (VFD) clock and don’t know where to start? Don’t worry! This guide will help you quickly understand the setup process and features, making it easy for you to enjoy this stylish, futuristic timepiece.
1. Unboxing and Initial Check
Upon opening the package, ensure all components are included:
- VFDClock × 1
- Type-C Cable × 1
- Screen Cleaning Wipe × 1
- Foam Feet Pads × 1
2. Removing Protective Film
The VFD 0658-A features an all-acrylic frame. For optimal glow and appearance, remove all protective films.
Note: The black protective film around the edges can also be removed. Be cautious as the screen is made of glass.
3. Initial Setup
Power On: Connect the VFD-0658-A to a power source. After powering on, the device will display a 10-second countdown, during which the RGB lights will flash. The screen will show “Hello” to indicate a successful startup.
Connect to WiFi: Follow these steps for the first WiFi connection:
- Find the configuration page named VFD_Clock_AP and connect.
- Enter your WiFi name and password on the configuration page, select your time zone, and customize additional features.
- Click “Save” and verify if the time is displayed correctly.
4. Reconfiguring the Clock
If you encounter signal issues and cannot see the WiFi name, you can press and hold the outer SET button (0658) for 3 seconds. The screen will display the IP address, such as 192.168.X.X. Enter this address in your browser to access the configuration page.
5. FAQ
Q: Unable to connect to WiFi
A: Ensure you are connected to a 2.4G network and have entered the correct account and password.
Q: Unable to select the time zone
A: For early 1.0 and 2.0 version users (0658), the NTP addresses may not display accurate times in some regions. Please use the NTP server address: ntp.aliyun.com.
Q: Unable to save settings
A: Please click the “Save” button instead of just the “Preview” button.
Q: Unable to get the desired RGB light color
A: The VFDClock supports a color picker and the input of color codes for precise color customization.
Q: Forgot how to reassemble the acrylic panels
A: The acrylic panels of the VFD clock are designed for easy differentiation, and all screws, standoffs, and nuts are standardized and uniform in size. All accessories can be used directly without worrying about size discrepancies causing assembly failure.
